Mediation: A relaxing experience

           Meditation, perhaps, is one of the greatest discoveries mankind has ever made. However, few of us understand the value of it simply because of our misconceptions on the subject. It is nothing to be discouraged. In fact, meditation is a bit of an acquired taste. Once we use to it, I bet all of us would like it. Frankly, I am not a much of mediator but I have developed interest in meditation for quite sometimes and want to share it. Therefore, this essay is going to be about the right attitude toward meditation and its methods.

           First of all, people need to change their mind-set about meditation. Generally, they think that it is hard and a task of the saints. In practice, meditation is for everybody. It is nothing but a relaxing experience. We are exhausted owing to the daily hard work and we have given too much room for fear, worry, anxiety and ambition so on. In this case, doing a little bit of meditation would help us immensely.

           So, one might ask, “How can I meditate?” It is important to not here that meditation has limitless methods. Incidentally, it is also quite interesting to see all religions and traditions have their own style of meditations. It is multidimensional. One meditation master said, “To meditate is to be aware of our bodies, our feelings, our actions and the world around us.” Hence, to meditate we have to know and aware of each and every of our actions. By doing that we are able to focus and concentrate on our things like never before. Consequently, we will be totally involved in everything we do and our daily life would become very efficient.

            Different meditation method can appeal to different people. One that very common among junior as well as senior practitioners is meditation of breathing in and out. In this exercise, we should see and witness the nature of our breathing and our while forgetting . This can be done in any posture you like yet sitting is more preferable.

           Above all don’t forget that meditation is an enjoyment experience. Sir Richard Branson, the founder of Virgin Group, said that he lived his life totally and enjoyed every minute of it. This is the meditative state of mind: one should enjoy their life no matter what circumstance. Meditation, in deed, will help you just to achieve that.

Mental and Physical Resources

Everyone entitled with two resources: mental and physical resources. In everyday to day activity, we use these two resources to satisfy and fulfill our need. However, out of these two resources physical resource is tangible and visible so that we easily understand how our physical effort is important for our daily life. We also care the strength of our body and we always keep our body in good condition.

However, little do we understand and realize the service and support of our mental resource. That is why, it isn’t an amazing fact to see most of us neglect our responsibility to mental resource. In fact, our mental resource can do a lot of benefit for us as do physical resource. As physical resource is considerably aware, this small essay of mine is going to emphasize on the value of mental resource and how it can be developed.

A person who has developed his mentality can face most of his problem in a calm manner. This would lead him a success life. Here I want to give an example because an example worth a thousand words. Let's say that there are two competitors compete against each other. Although both are strong physically, one is lack of mental strength. The person who has developed his mental will probably overcome the other one because he has got mental and spiritual strength which the other doesn’t have.

Today, Mon people around the world mark the 61st Mon National Day in commemoration of the founding of the last Mon kingdom, Hongsawatoi, and in celebration of theirnationalidentity,pride and heritage. The Mon, a subfamily ofthe Mon-Khmer,weretheearliestinhabitantsinbothmodern Burma and Thailand and the pioneers of civilization in both Old Burma and Old Siam. Monpeople enjoyed their sovereignty and independence until the Hongsawatoi kingdom (Bago) in Lower Burma, was occupied and destroyed by the Burmeseking Alaung Paya in 1757. With the help of the British and the Dutch, theBurmese king, Alaung Paya invaded and annexed the Mon kingdom and brutallykilled thousands of innocent Mons including Buddhist monks, children, andpregnant-women. Those who survived escaped to Thailand. The Mon Peoplebecame aminority group in their own-land and have been a people without acountry ever since.

The Mons have never recognized successive Burmese regimes as the legitimate rulers of their land. They have defied the administration of these aggressors by all sorts of means including armed resistance. They fought against the Burmese rulers until the British occupied part of lower Burma in 1824. During British rule, the Mon People fought against the British along with the Burmese and other ethnic nationalities in order to regain their homeland. But when Burma gained her independence in 1948, the Mons were once again denied the right to exerciseself-determination. Having exhausted all peaceful means of gaining their rights and freedom and under continuous rejection and brutal suppression by the Burmese leadership, the Mons were left with no other choice than armedresistance.

In 1995, the New Mon State Party (NMSP), the largest Mon armed resistance party entered into a cease-fire agreement with the current Burmese military regime (SPDC) with the aim of solving political problems by peaceful means. The SPDC, however, has dishonored its promise and refused to hold political talks with the NMSP. Instead, the Burmese regime has expanded its military forces in the Mon areas and committed various kinds of human rights abuses including land confiscation, forced relocation, forced labor, rape, and killing. Furthermore, the SPDC abolished the Mon National Democratic Front (MNDF), which had been fighting for the right to self-determination for the Mons through peaceful and democratic means. Many of the MNDF leaders and supporters were arbitrarily arrested, tortured, and sentenced to long-term jails. On this 61st Mon National Day, we reaffirm our commitment to continue our fight until our people win our fundamental rights, freedom, and peace. We strongly urge Mon people around the world:
(1) To build solid unity among ourselves and to work together for our causes,
(2) To promote our culture and literature wherever we are,
(3) To launch effective international campaigns against the illegitimate rule of
Burmese military regime, andWe appeal to the international community:
(1). To increase pressure on Burmese military regime to initiate political dialogue with the NLD and the ethnic nationalities.
(2). To stop all kinds of human rights abuses committed by the Burmese Army
in the parts of Burma that are the homelands of the Mons and other ethnic nationalities.
